WHAT’S AT STAKE FOR DISTRICT 87
By Jon Maples
Over the past several months, I have had the privilege of meeting thousands of people across District 87.
I have knocked on doors, sat around kitchen tables, attended community meetings, visited with small
business owners, spoken with parents and teachers, listened to our first responders, and spent countless
hours simply asking people what matters most to them.
Different neighborhoods have different concerns, but I keep hearing many of the same things.
It is getting too expensive to live here.
Families are feeling the pressure of rising property taxes, homeowners insurance, groceries, utilities, and
everyday expenses. Retirees who worked their entire lives to call Palm Beach County home are wondering
whether they can afford to stay. Young families are wondering whether the community they love will still be
affordable five or ten years from now.
We cannot accept that as the new normal.
In Tallahassee, I will fight for meaningful property tax relief, continued reforms that bring down insurance
costs, responsible spending, and policies that make Florida more affordable for the people who actually live
here.
Our schools and communities must remain safe and strong.
My wife, Kristi, spent nine years as a teacher. We are raising our 16-year-old daughter, Bella, right here in
this community. Education is personal to our family.
I believe we should pay good teachers more, keep our schools safe, expand vocational and technical
opportunities, protect school choice, and make sure parents continue to have a meaningful voice in their
children’s education.
I also believe the men and women who protect our communities deserve more than our thanks. Our law
enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders deserve elected leaders who will
stand with them, provide the resources they need, and recognize the mental and emotional toll that comes
with serving others.
And government must remember who it works for.
As a small business owner and financial advisor, I understand what it means to balance a budget, make
payroll, make difficult decisions, and be accountable for results.
Government should be held to that same standard.
We need to eliminate unnecessary waste, reduce burdensome regulations, address permitting delays,
protect taxpayers, and make it easier, not harder, for families and businesses to succeed.
Ultimately, this election is about more than choosing between two candidates.
It is about what kind of community we want District 87 to be and what kind of representation we want in
Tallahassee.
Can families afford to stay here?
Will parents continue to have a voice?
Will our first responders know their representative stands with them?
Will taxpayers have someone watching how their money is spent?
Will we protect the neighborhoods, waterways, beaches, and quality of life that make this district so special?
Those are the questions I think about every day.
I did not enter this race because I wanted a title. I entered it because I believe this community is worth fighting
for.
Every conversation, every doorstep, and every person who has shared their story with me has strengthened
that belief.
We have 29 days until Election Day.
Over these final weeks, I will continue doing exactly what I have done throughout this campaign: showing up,
listening, working, and earning your vote.
On November 3, I respectfully ask for the opportunity to represent you in the Florida House.
There is a lot at stake, so get your 10 friends, hold one another accountable, and vote.
It’s Time.
